Diary During Mom's Trip

Tuesday 7/8:

Ø Left mom at airport. Sad already. Sad on way to Chillis. No wait at Chilliis- a little sadness gone.

Ø Very hungry and food is slow.

Ø Gets really bad at 1:00 better at 2:00 bad at 3:00 well by 4:00.

AND MOM HAD BEEN GONE ONLY FOR SIX HOURS!!!!!

Wednesday 7/9:

Ø Prepared breakfast

Ø Cleaned table

Ø Did homework

Ø Played

Ø Rested

Ø Played

Ø Went to get vacuum and chemicals for pool

Thursday 7/10:

TODAY IS DAD’S TWENTIETH ANNIVERSAY OF THE COLOMBIAN HEART ATTACK INCIDENT. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAD.

ü Dad bought three steaks at Sams for dinner for after 4:30 mass tomorrow

Friday 7-11 Cont.

Ø Shots day.

Ø Went with abuelo – got there fine with Dad’s instructions but they were closed for lunch.

Ø Went to lunch with abuelo – got lost finding lunch – got lost finding the office after lunch.

Ø Finally had pizza, then shots

Ø Brought bike back home

Ø Went in the clearest pool ever for hours.

Ø Slept in individual beds.

Sat 7-12

ü Visited tio padrino in hospital. By the way not doing well; double pneumonia and a touch of emphysema.

ü Went to mass in the afternoon because of Yu-Gi-Oh tomorrow; long, long mass with a Polish priest we had no idea what he said

ü Rain non –stop

ü Saw “Superman Doomsday” – “the saddest thing ever” – Sean

ü Back to dad’s bed

Sun 7-13

¨ Yu-Gi-Oh contest

¨ Gloomy day; probably no pool today, as of 8:30 a.m.

¨ Sun came out: pool; rest; pool; biking; pool

¨ Coco showed up

¨ Pizza – Jurassic park but no Sean

Mon7-14

Ø Breakfast

Ø Pool

Ø All you can eat Chinese – David got THREE fortunes in his cookie and a lucky penny outside the restaurant

Tue 7-15

v Visited Tio Padrino at hospital

v Pool rained out; major storm; a lot of item in gazebo soaked due to faulty engineering set up of protective carp;

v Eat 1,000 chicken strips

Wed 7-16

ü Went to museum as planned. Rained IN the museum and could not get out; used garbage bags as protection and finally made it.

ü Pool rained out

ü Bike rained out

ü Wrote a song with Danny but could not put to music. Dad helped and it sounded great but Danny and I could not do it.

ü Fixed the chain in the Hook bike. All chains in all bikes outside have rusted. Some unrepeatable.

Thurs 7-17

Biked to Walgreens for prescription – not ready – papa did his thing – ready!

¨ “The invasion of the tent people” – uncles house is fumigated so they came over.

¨ Movie night – lots of popcorn – microwave does not work again –called with riot act – will return on Wed

¨ Last vacation day

¨ Nightmare night

¨ Dad’s bed – only because Chuck looks so lonely.

Sat 7/20/08

MOM’S BIRTHDAY

Ø Everything we did, we did because it was her birthday

Ø Biked to FIU; fed turtles and fish

Ø Back home

Ø Lunch – turkey sandwiches – including invaders

Ø Pool

Ø Rest

Ø Pool

Ø Abuelo came to get his invaders, fed them and dropped them off again.

Ø Given that courtesy, we cooked Burgers – sang mama happy birthday – David got very emotional, followed by Sean and then papa

Ø Visited padrino at the hospital; not improving

Sun 7/21

v Breakfast – Tent invaders still here.

v Left for Mass – went to St. Agatha

v Only one invader left upon return and was promptly picked up by the rambling taxi

v Lunch – fetuccine

v Bike to FIU – turtle feed and ramp, ramp, ramp, ramp.

v Little turtle big turtle table story

v Pool

v Last of burgers

v Individual beds

v Papa starts work tomorrow.

Mon 7/21

v Coco forgot he was to cover and appeared late after dad woke him up

v Spent the day at the pool and sleeping – what a sitter!

v Back to the all-you-can eat

Tue 7/22

Ø Sergio covered. Took David to shots since we forgot on Friday and remembered too late yesterday

Ø Pool – Danny appeared

Ø Pool – Abuelo went in while Eli and Rosa watched – brought chicken wings and lentil as payment for yet another form for dad to complete

Wed 7/23/08

ü Another storm – pool may be rained out

ü AFTER 5:00 – cleared up

ü Pool is spectacularly clear – movie pool clear. – Pool until late

ü All we can say every two and a half seconds is “if mama were here for this clear pool” but it will be clear for you too, even though you come in a day before the cleaning guy does.

ü Had Publix popcorn chicken for dinner with fettuccine Alfredo

v Another storm all day long.

v Working on homework and Sean surprise

Friday 7/25

Put all favorite restaurants in a hat to draw from.

Result was not good, so we tried again, but the same came out so we went to Shortys’ – our feeling was correct, not a good choice but we made the best of it.

Sat 7/26

Alex came by with Shelly and Marley

Had a great time

Ordered Pizza

Invaded by the mob to celebrate Laura’s birthday as pool party

Stayed in pool til 9:00 pm with lights working

Sun 7/27

Horrible morning with storms, winds, thunder

Cleared up

Went to FIU with Alex to feed turtles

Mon – Getting ready for Mom’s return. We woke up at 5:00 because we were told the plane was going to land at 6:00 . Went to the airport and the screen said arrival was 6:30---then 7:45, then 9:00 and we waited all that time. It was crazy and we were crazy. Our DS batteries were drained and finally she arrived. We cried together and it was great to have her back!
